SAFETY TIPS *** Some tips for you to take into account when meeting your date for the first time. Inform Somebody Like with any social situation, e.g. going on holiday, staying with friends, going away on a weekend, it is always advisable to inform somebody preferably a close friend or member/s of family of your meeting plans. Likewise, our advice to you is to inform somebody well in advance of your plans when meeting somebody for the first time. Where to Meet Try to meet your date during the day in open light and in a public place and try to go home early. You can meet at a well known restaurant, cafe, museum or you could even arrange to meet in a social club in the community that you are both aware of and that pertains to both similar interests. For added security, a place known to have cctv cameras are a bonus. Perhaps, you can also meet at a cafe initially for a quick chat say at lunch break if you both work in the area- so that if you feel that there is nothing potential then it will be easy to discontinue the meeting soon after you have had tea or coffee. Do not say anything offending or detrimental to your date to affect their self esteem if you feel s/he don't meet your requirement. Try to be courteous and cheerful and show a sense of caring. We strongly recommend that you should not go home with your date on your first date. Transport We also advise that you DO NOT enter the car of your date and that it is advisable to have your own form of transport or use public transport. So if things are not going so well, it will be easier for you to leave and make your own journey home. Again, we strongly recommend that you do not for whatever reason go into the car of your date when meeting them for the first time Transport It is advisable if possible to carry a mobile phone in case you need to inform somebody of your whereabouts - if you do not possess a mobile phone then perhaps have some loose change/phone card available in case you need to ring somebody. Not Too Confident (for Ladies) If you are not too confident about meeting your designated date especially for the first time - then perhaps you can go along with a friend provided your date does not mind. Home Timing We also advise that you do not go to the house of your date until you are extremely confident and sure about your date. A good healthy timing, perhaps is between 3 and 6 months. Try to get to know each other by meeting up frequently in a public place and by telephoning. Clothes Don't wear anything that is provocative and loud - you don't really want to give the wrong impression do you? Wear something comfortable, respectable and according to the weather or according to where you are going for the date. It's always best not to dress too casual or too formal if the situation warrants it. |
